240 Reasons to Keep Going: IA Initiative Supports Children’s Care at LUTH

June 19, 2025 IAadmin No comments yet

Breathing shouldn’t be a privilege, especially for children.
But for many families in Nigeria, the cost of a simple inhaler can stand between a child and a normal day at school, or even a peaceful night’s sleep. That’s why this moment matters.

IA Initiative recently donated 240 inhalers to the Pediatrics Department of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), a federal government hospital that serves thousands of people from across Lagos and beyond. It’s one of the busiest and most critical medical institutions in the country. To be able to support it in any way is something we don’t take lightly.

Our team had the honor of meeting with the Head of Department and one of the attending pediatricians during our visit. We came not only with supplies but with a shared commitment to help ease the burden of care, especially for families who walk through LUTH’s doors every day in search of answers and relief.

An inhaler may seem like a small item, but it’s not.

It’s a child playing outside without fear.
It’s a student who doesn’t have to sit out of class because of a preventable asthma attack.
It’s a parent who can breathe easier too, knowing their child has what they need.

240 inhalers means 240 lives touched directly, and many more indirectly. Siblings, classmates, teachers, caregivers. The ripple effect is real.

At IA Initiative, this is what we’re about. Showing up where the need is greatest, especially when it comes to children. Vulnerable children, in particular, deserve all the support we can give. Not just in private clinics or elite schools, but in public hospitals, in everyday communities, in places like LUTH.

We believe access to care should not depend on income. And while we know the system needs more — more supplies, more support, more partnerships — we’re proud to be part of the solution. Proud that this donation wasn’t just symbolic, it was strategic. It went where it could do the most good.

And we’re not stopping here. Every effort, every gift, every visit is one step closer to a world where no child has to struggle for breath.

To the incredible team at LUTH and to every child who will use one of these inhalers — thank you. This is why we do what we do.

“You brought us hope.”

Those were the words of the officer in charge of the health care center in Mpappe, a community tucked inside Abuja, Nigeria’s vibrant capital city. And for us at IA Initiative, that moment said everything.
